Caitlin Clark to Miss Remainder of 2025 WNBA Season
INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana Fever guard Caitlin Clark will miss the remainder of the 2025 WNBA season, the team announced Thursday,as she continues to recover from a left ankle sprain sustained earlier this summer. Despite participating in limited 5-on-0 drills this week, clark will not be cleared for full contact before the Fever’s regular-season finale on Tuesday.
The decision prioritizes Clark’s long-term health, ending a season marked by injury for the star player who quickly became a focal point of the WNBA’s surging popularity. Clark averaged 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds in 2025, but was limited to sporadic appearances, never playing more than five consecutive games. This marks the frist time in her collegiate and professional career that Clark has been sidelined for an extended period.
“Caitlin has worked so hard throughout this time, doing everything possible to recover and return to the court but, ultimately, time is not on our side,” Fever COO and general manager Amber Cox said in a statement. “While we will continue working with Caitlin and provide her with every resource we have available, there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority. We are looking forward to having her back at full strength to start the 2026 season.”
Clark joins teammates Aari McDonald (foot), Sydney Colson (knee), Sophie Cunningham (knee), and Chloe Bibby (knee) as season-ending injury casualties for the Fever. Indiana remains in contention for a playoff berth, battling Golden State, seattle, and Los Angeles for one of the final three spots.
