Caitlin Clark’s 2025 Season Ends Early for Indiana Fever
INDIANAPOLIS – In a blow to both the Indiana Fever and WNBA fans, guard Caitlin Clark will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2025 season, the team confirmed Thursday. The injury, initially sustained during a July 15th victory over the Connecticut Sun,has proven more challenging to overcome than initially anticipated.
Clark suffered a right groin injury during the Fever’s 87-77 win and subsequently developed a bone bruise during the recovery process. Despite diligent efforts to return to the court, the team has determined that a full and safe recovery will not be possible within the remaining timeframe of the season.
“Caitlin has worked so hard throughout this time, doing everything possible to recover and return to the court but, ultimately, time is not on our side,” stated Indiana Fever COO and GM Amber Cox. “While we will continue working with Caitlin and provide her with every resource we have available, there is not enough time left in our season for her to safely return, and her long-term health and well-being remains our top priority. We are looking forward to having her back at full strength to start the 2026 season.”
The 2024 WNBA Rookie of the year and two-time All-Star appeared in 13 regular season games this year, averaging an impressive 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game. Clark played a pivotal role in the Fever’s success, contributing to their championship run and securing the 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup title.
Clark’s absence is a significant setback for the Fever as they navigate the remainder of the season. Her dynamic playmaking and scoring ability have quickly made her a fan favorite and a cornerstone of the franchise. The team will undoubtedly focus on supporting Clark’s recovery and preparing for a strong return in the 2026 season.
