BYU Football Adds Snow College QB Max Barker for 2026 Season

PROVO, Utah – BYU’s football team began Spring Camp on Friday, coinciding with the addition of Snow College transfer quarterback Max Barker to the roster, the university confirmed.

Barker, a junior from Bountiful, Utah, joins a quarterback room led by Bear Bachmeier. Treyson Bourguet and Enoch Watson are also listed as quarterbacks for the Cougars. BYU’s decision to add Barker comes as the team had only three quarterbacks on the roster prior to his arrival, creating a need for additional depth, according to reports.

During his two seasons at Snow College, Barker appeared in six games, completing three of five pass attempts for 31 yards. He will wear jersey number 20 for the Cougars.

While the team added Barker, the coaching staff has made it clear that the addition will not alter the current depth chart. Bachmeier is expected to remain the starting quarterback, with Bourguet and Watson competing for the backup role. Bourguet took the majority of snaps with the second-team offense during the first practice of Spring Camp.

BYU’s spring roster includes a total of 34 newcomers, each recently selecting their jersey numbers. Other notable newcomers and their assigned numbers include Roger Saleapaga II (Tight End, #2), Kyler Kasper (Wide Receiver, #3), and Cade Uluave (Linebacker, #4).

Barker’s parents are Ryan and Anette Barker. He prepped at Bountiful High School before attending Snow College.
