BYD Cars 2026: Prices, New Models & Updates in Indonesia

March 22, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

BYD Auto is expanding its electric vehicle lineup with updates to the Atto 3 and the introduction of the Atto 1, alongside adjustments to pricing and incentives impacting its broader range in several markets. Recent reports indicate a shift towards rear-wheel drive for the latest Atto 3 models, while the Atto 1 boasts an extended range of up to 500 kilometers, incorporating LiDAR technology.

The BYD Atto 3, also known as the Yuan Plus in China and Latin America, is a compact crossover SUV that began production in January 2022. Assembly takes place in China – Changsha, Hunan; Changzhou, Jiangsu; and Hefei, Anhui – as well as in India (Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu) and Thailand (Rayong). The vehicle is designed under the leadership of Wolfgang Egger and is built on the e-Platform 3.0. Power output options for the Atto 3 currently range from 100 kW (134 hp) in Singapore and Sri Lanka to 150 kW (201 hp), with the Atto 3 Evo offering more powerful variants at 230 kW (308 hp) and 390 kW (523 hp). Battery options include 49.92 kWh, 50.25 kWh, 60.48 kWh, and 74.8 kWh BYD Blade LFP batteries.

The updated BYD Atto 3 now features a rear-wheel drive configuration, a departure from previous models. Simultaneously, the Atto 1 has seen a significant increase in range, reaching up to 500 km, and incorporates LiDAR technology. This advancement positions the Atto 1 as a competitive option in the growing EV market.

Yet, changes to government incentives are impacting BYD’s pricing structure. The Atto 1 has experienced a price increase in 2026 following the removal of certain incentives, with potential price hikes reaching up to 40 percent. This adjustment reflects broader shifts in EV policy and market dynamics.

BYD’s current vehicle lineup includes a range of models with prices starting from approximately Rp199 million, extending to more luxurious options. The company’s expansion into various markets, including Indonesia, is supported by local assembly and a growing network of dealerships.
