BYD ATTO 2 DM-i debuts as a compact plug-in hybrid SUV in Sofia
The BYD ATTO 2 DM-i debuts as a compact plug-in hybrid SUV engineered to bridge urban electric driving and long-distance range anxiety. The model was among BYD’s highlights during the official brand presentation at Green & Mobility Expo Sofia 2026 on September 18, held at Square “St. Alexander Nevsky”.
Design and Urban Utility
Visually, the ATTO 2 DM-i avoids the overt styling cues typically used to prove a vehicle is “green,” presenting itself instead as a tight, urban compact SUV with a high seating position and a body shape designed to offer a higher-class feel. The model aims to let drivers use it primarily as an electric vehicle in the city, while relying on the petrol engine to remove range anxiety during longer journeys.
Interior Technology and Features
Inside, the cabin features a digital instrument cluster in front of the driver and a large central touchscreen, which measures 12.8 inches in the Boost version. The interface includes navigation, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, 4G connection, and OTA update capabilities. Drivers can utilize a voice assistant activated by the command Hi BYD
to control the air conditioning and certain power window functions. The Boost version also includes a 360-degree camera system to assist with parking in tight city spaces by providing a top-down visual perspective.
Test Drives and Showroom Availability
Following its exhibition debut, the public can view and test drive the new model during an open doors weekend from October 1 to 4 at BYD showrooms managed by Esco Automotive in Sofia at 43 Hristofor Kolumb Blvd. and in Varna at 7 Yan Huniyadi Blvd.
