Burnside Roof Fire: Person Injured – Christchurch Update
A person sustained moderate injuries in a house fire in Burnside, Christchurch, today. Emergency services responded to a blaze at a property on Wairakei Road shortly after midday.
Fire and Emergency Modern Zealand (FENZ) dispatched three crews to the scene, describing the fire as “small” and located on the roof of the building. According to a FENZ spokesperson, all occupants had evacuated the property before firefighters arrived.
St John Ambulance assessed two patients at the scene. One patient was treated for minor injuries and remained at the property, while another, with moderate injuries, was transported to Christchurch Hospital for further medical attention, according to reports from RNZ.
Fire crews completed their work and left the scene just after 3:30pm. The cause of the fire is currently unknown.
