Bulls Get Giddey, Jones, Smith Probable vs. Raptors: Injury Report & Rotation Outlook

by Emma Walker – News Editor

Chicago Bulls guards Josh Giddey and Tre Jones are listed as probable to return to the lineup tonight when the team faces the Toronto Raptors, according to recent injury reports. Giddey, who has been sidelined for the past eight games due to a left hamstring injury, confirmed his availability following a full practice session on Wednesday.

The return of Giddey marks his first action alongside the Bulls’ revamped roster following a significant trade deadline that saw the team move on from several players, signaling a clear intent to build around Giddey and lottery pick Matas Buzelis. The Bulls have struggled since the trade deadline, failing to secure a win and currently facing a challenging stretch of games against playoff-caliber teams and the surging Charlotte Hornets.

Giddey initially sustained the hamstring injury on December 29 against the Minnesota Timberwolves, causing him to miss 11 games before returning on January 22. But, the injury was re-aggravated on January 28 against the Indiana Pacers, leading to his most recent absence. The team is expected to implement a minutes restriction for Giddey upon his return, similar to the approach taken during his previous comeback, limiting him to under 30 minutes per game.

Alongside Giddey, Tre Jones is also probable to play after missing the last 11 games with a hamstring injury of his own. Jones’ return provides a boost to the Bulls’ backcourt and offers another efficient ball distributor to help integrate the latest players. Jalen Smith is also expected to be available, providing energy and versatility to the frontcourt, having started in 12 of his last 16 games.

The Toronto Raptors have listed both Collin Murray-Boyles and Sandro Mamukelashvili as questionable for tonight’s game, with both players dealing with injuries. Murray-Boyles is nursing a thumb injury, whereas Mamukelashvili is dealing with a rib injury. Despite these potential absences, the Raptors will still rely on the contributions of Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram.
