Bulgaria at World Indoor Athletics Championships: Schedule & Athletes | Torun 2023
Toruń, Poland is hosting the World Athletics Indoor Championships, beginning today, with over 500 athletes competing for medals. The three-day event, running from March 20th to 22nd, promises intense competition across a range of track and field disciplines.
Bulgaria is represented by a team of five athletes, marking the largest Bulgarian contingent at a World Indoor Championship since the 2018 event in Birmingham, United Kingdom. The Bulgarian team includes Божидар Саръбоюков, the European indoor champion in long jump, alongside Христо Илиев and Никола Караманолов in the 60m sprint, Александра Начева in the triple jump and Станислав Станков in the 60m hurdles.
The Bulgarian team’s participation began with Христо Илиев and Никола Караманолов competing in the 60m sprint, but both athletes were eliminated in the preliminary rounds. Станислав Станков also did not advance from the series stage in the 60m hurdles on the second day of the competition.
Today, Александра Начева is scheduled to compete in the final of the women’s triple jump. Bulgarian viewers can watch the World Athletics Indoor Championships live on BNT 3.
