Buenos Aires Police 2026: Requirements, Process & Application Guide

February 20, 2026 Alex Carter - Sports Editor Sport

The Buenos Aires Ministry of Security has begun accepting applications for the 2026 entry cycle to the “Juan Vucetich” Police School, initiating a competitive process for aspiring officers in Argentina’s largest security force. The recruitment and evaluation process, detailed by the Ministry, emphasizes rigorous physical and psychological preparation alongside strict adherence to regulatory requirements.

Entry into the force requires applicants to meet several criteria. Candidates must be Argentine citizens – either native-born, naturalized, or by choice – and between 18 and 29 years of age at the time of official incorporation. A verifiable domicile within the Province of Buenos Aires, as registered on their National Identity Document (DNI), is also mandatory. Completion of secondary education, equivalent to Law No. 13,688, is required; certificates of current enrollment with outstanding subjects are not accepted.

Beyond these foundational requirements, applicants must demonstrate psychophysical fitness, adhering to the standards outlined in Law No. 13,982 and its regulations. A clean criminal record, both provincially and nationally, is essential. The Ministry emphasizes that even minor contraventional causes or unresolved legal issues can lead to disqualification.

The application process demands meticulous documentation. Applicants must submit a completed registration form, available on the Ministry of Security’s website, along with a copy of their updated DNI, original birth certificate (hospital-issued certificates are not valid), and a certified copy of their secondary school diploma. Titles issued before 2010 require seals from both the Ministry of the Interior and the Province. A recent 4×4 photograph with a white background, a preliminary medical evaluation form, and a food debtor certificate (for applicants with children) complete the required documentation.

The selection process is multi-layered, designed to identify the most suitable candidates. The initial stage is a demanding athletic evaluation, assessing cardiovascular endurance, strength, and agility. The Ministry provides a “Video of Recommendations for Athletic Evaluation” to aid preparation. Successful candidates then proceed to psychological and premedical evaluations, where health professionals assess cognitive and emotional profiles to ensure applicants can handle high-stress situations. A final personal interview and selection board determine definitive suitability for entry into the academy.

The Ministry has highlighted common reasons for rejection, including failing to meet the age requirements, submitting incomplete secondary education documentation, lacking sufficient physical fitness, or having a criminal record. Applicants are advised to verify their legal status with a National Recidivism certificate well in advance and to ensure their DNI reflects a current Buenos Aires address.

The psychological examination focuses on identifying candidates with high frustration tolerance, strong impulse control, and emotional stability. The medical examination is comprehensive, including cardiological stress tests, blood work, toxicological screenings, audiometry, and visual acuity checks. Applicants are urged to be rested, adhere to fasting requirements, and honestly disclose any pre-existing health conditions, as concealment or falsification can result in permanent disqualification.

Registration for the 2026 cycle is currently open and conducted entirely online through the Ministry of Security’s website (www.mseg.gba.gov.ar, in the “Income” section). Mobile information and registration points are also being deployed in various municipalities. Applicants can reach the Ministry with questions via WhatsApp at +54 9 221 224-6012, by phone at 0221-4293000 (extensions 73845, 74054, 73857, 73858, and 73859), through the toll-free line 0800-666-6666, or by email at [email protected].

The Juan Vucetich Police School, named in honor of the pioneer of dactyloscopy, also serves as the Instituto de Formación Técnica Nro. 6005, recognized by the General Directorate of Schools of the Province of Buenos Aires, and the Instituto Universitario Vucetich offers degrees in Criminalistics, Risk Management, Criminal Investigation, Citizen Security, and Security Technologies.
