Bucks County Voters to Decide District Attorney Race This November
Doylestown, PA – As Bucks County heads toward the November 4th election, voters will choose a District Attorney to represent the county and its residents in criminal justice matters. This election is one of five “at large” Row Office positions on the ballot, meaning all eligible voters county-wide will participate nonetheless of their municipality.
Bucks County’s District Attorney serves as the government’s legal representative,responsible for prosecuting criminal cases on behalf of the people. The office reviews evidence, decides whether to file charges, and presents cases in court, working alongside law enforcement and victims to pursue just outcomes.
according to the National District Attorneys Association (NDAA),the District Attorney’s core function is to ensure fair and equitable justice within the community.In Pennsylvania, each of the state’s 67 counties maintains its own District Attorney’s Office, as outlined by the Pennsylvania District Attorneys Institute.
Candidates vying for the position must meet specific qualifications, including admission to practice before the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania at least one year prior to the election. They must also be at least 18 years old and a bucks County resident for a minimum of one year before the election. Furthermore, candidates cannot simultaneously hold positions as federal employees, members of Congress, members of the Board of Health, or serve on municipal legislative bodies like borough councils, township supervisory boards, or school boards.
District Attorneys in Bucks County serve four-year terms. The Bucks County District Attorney’s office describes itself as “the law office of the People,” emphasizing its commitment to representing the interests of the county’s residents.
