Bucaramanga Residents Rally for “Radio for Homeless Animals” at Bonita Fair
Bucaramanga, Colombia – This Friday, September 12th, the city of Bucaramanga will demonstrate it’s commitment to animal welfare with the “Third Radio for Homeless Animals,” a 12-hour live broadcast event held within the framework of the Bonita Fair of Colombia. Hosted by The Cultural 100.7 FM, the event aims to collect vital supplies for abandoned dogs and cats throughout the region.From 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM at Neomundo, the station’s team, led by Luis Carlos Galán, will be broadcasting live, encouraging listeners to donate much-needed resources. The initiative coincides with the Position Fest, fostering a collaborative spirit between citizens, animal rescue foundations, and temporary animal shelters.
Organizers are seeking donations of dog and cat food, beds, bowls, collars, blankets, toys, veterinary medications, and hygiene products. But the call for support extends beyond material goods. Event organizers emphasize the importance of offering affection and empathy to vulnerable animals.
“True heroes don’t always wear a cape,” a statement from the organizers reads, appealing to the community’s compassion.
The event builds on the success of previous years. Last April, the “Second radio” initiative collected an impressive 1,305 kilograms (over 2,900 pounds) of food, benefiting 737 animals – 182 cats and 555 dogs – through distribution to the Animal Welfare Unit (UBA) and 26 local foundations and shelters.
This year, organizers are setting an enterprising goal: to surpass that ton of love with the support of the Bucaramanga community and the increased visibility provided by the Bonita Fair.
