BTS NORMAL Performance LIVE on Netflix: ARIRANG Debut
BTS performed “NORMAL” from their new album ARIRANG in a globally livestreamed concert on Netflix Saturday, marking the K-pop group’s first performance together in over three years.
The performance, broadcast live from Seoul’s Gwanghwamun Square, was part of “BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang,” a concert special streamed on Netflix beginning March 21, according to the streaming platform. The event celebrated the release of the group’s fifth studio album, ARIRANG, which debuted on March 20.
The concert began with a sweeping view of Seoul’s Gyeongbokgung Palace, before focusing on the seven members of BTS – RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – standing in front of the palace, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter. “Hello, Seoul,” group leader RM told the crowd. “We’re back.”
The livestream included performances of new songs from ARIRANG, including “Body to Body,” “Hooligan,” and “2.0,” as well as a performance featuring dancers in traditional Korean hanbok playing the Korean folk song “Arirang,” according to The Hollywood Reporter. Jimin, 30, addressed the crowd, stating, “We are finally here, and we are seeing you again,” and expressing his emotion at being able to perform for fans once more.
The concert was available to all Netflix subscribers, with plans starting at $7.99 per month, according to Netflix. The hour-long performance was streamed live from Gwanghwamun, the main gate of Seoul’s Gyeongbokgung Palace.
The return to the stage follows a period where the group members fulfilled mandatory military service requirements in South Korea and pursued individual projects, according to Mashable. The performance marked the group’s first all-in performance since 2022.
