BTS Concert: 18.4M Viewers Tune In to Netflix Livestream
A livestreamed concert marking the return of K-pop group BTS drew 18.4 million global viewers on Netflix, the streaming service announced Wednesday.
The performance, titled “BTS The Comeback Live | Arirang,” originated from Seoul’s historic Gwanghwamun Square on Saturday, March 21, 2026, and celebrated the release of the group’s fifth studio album, Arirang. It represented BTS’s first group live performance in over three years, following a period where each member fulfilled mandatory military service requirements in South Korea.
The concert special was broadcast live around the world on Netflix, a first for the streaming platform, according to reports. The show began with a sweeping shot of Seoul’s Gyeongbokgung Palace, before focusing on the seven members – RM, Jin, Suga, J-hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook – performing in front of the palace. “Hello, Seoul,” group leader RM told the crowd, “We’re back.”
The setlist included tracks from the new album, such as “Body to Body,” “Hooligan,” and “2.0,” as well as a performance of the traditional Korean folk song “Arirang” by a group of performers in traditional hanbok. Jimin, speaking to the crowd, expressed his emotion at returning to the stage, stating, “We are finally here, and we are seeing you again.”
The return of BTS follows a hiatus that began in 2022 as each member individually began fulfilling their mandatory military service obligations. Jin, the oldest member, completed his service in 2024, with the remaining members completing their duties by mid-2025. During this period, members similarly pursued solo projects.
The Arirang album, released on March 20, features collaborations with a range of producers, including Diplo, Kevin Parker of Tame Impala, Mike WiLL Made-It, and Ryan Tedder. Netflix also released a documentary special, “BTS: The Return,” chronicling the group’s reunion.
