Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band released the second installment of their audiovisual project, Philadelphia Freedom Cut Part 2, by sharing the official video for seven songs from the final leg of their Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour. The official video features seven songs from the final stretch of the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour, showcasing the legendary formation’s continuing onstage energy.
A Historical Narrative Across 20 Tour Dates
The 20-concert series making up the Land of Hope and Dreams American Tour has drawn significant critical attention for its structural ambition. Variety defined the run as a reinvention of how a concert can be organized to tell a story. Meanwhile, Rolling Stone noted that the catalog is custom-built for this purpose, given how long Springsteen has addressed questions that too many have ignored.
The tracks included in this new release acquire a fresh meaning, as noted by TIME Magazine, by integrating into the tour’s carefully curated narrative. The setlist for this second part brings together pieces of distinct caliber, including “The Promised Land,” “Two Hearts,” “Hungry Heart,” “Youngstown,” “Murder Incorporated,” “American Skin (41 Shots),” and “Long Walk Home.”
An Imposing Lineup and Special Guests
The sonic battalion on stage relies on the core members of the E Street Band. Roy Bittan anchors the sound on piano and synthesizer, accompanied by Nils Lofgren on guitar and vocals, Garry Tallent on bass, Stevie Van Zandt on guitar and vocals, and Max Weinberg on drums. Alongside them, Soozie Tyrell performs on violin, guitar, and vocals, Jake Clemons handles the saxophone, and Charlie Giordano operates the organ, keyboards, and accordion.
The tour’s musical heft is rounded out by the E Street Horns and Percussion section, featuring Anthony Almonte, Barry Danielian, Eddie Manion, Ozzie Melendez, and Curt Ramm. Vocal harmonies are supplied by the E Street Choir, consisting of Ada Dyer, Curtis King, Lisa Lowell, and Michelle Moore. As a special guest across all 20 dates of the tour, guitarist Tom Morello joined Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band on stage.
