Denver Broncos running back J.K. Dobbins is expected to be out for the foreseeable future due to a significant foot injury, NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported Friday. Dobbins sustained the injury during the Broncos’ 31-28 victory over the Las Vegas Raiders last Thursday on Thursday Night Football.
Dobbins reportedly believes the injury resulted from an illegal hip-drop tackle by the raiders, though the play was not flagged during the game. He finished the game despite the injury, contributing to the Broncos’ win.
The Broncos are considering placing Dobbins on injured reserve. His absence is a blow to Denver’s offense, notably as he was having a career season.
rookie R.J. harvey, a second-round pick in the NFL Draft, is expected to take on a starting role. Broncos Head Coach Sean payton, quarterback Bo Nix,and wide receiver courtland sutton have all publicly praised Harvey.he will be tested immediately, as the Broncos face the Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday in a crucial divisional matchup.
Denver currently holds an 8-2 record and leads the AFC West, while the Chiefs are 5-4 and seeking to improve their playoff positioning.
In addition to Harvey, the Broncos will likely rely on Jaleel McLaughlin and Tyler Badie to contribute to the rushing attack during Dobbins’ recovery.
