Brittany Force Shatters Records, Secures Top Spot in Top Fuel History
In a dominant display of speed and skill, NHRA Top Fuel driver Brittany Force has solidified her place in drag racing history, now holding five of the six fastest speeds ever recorded in the class. Her latest performance saw her clock an astonishing 341.59 mph in the semifinals, surpassing her own previous national record. While the weekend ultimately ended with a runner-up finish in the final round due to an engine safety sensor, Force’s achievements underscore her exceptional talent and the relentless dedication of her team.
Force’s remarkable weekend began in qualifying with a blistering 340.47 mph run, a speed she then improved upon in the first round with a 340.82 mph pass against Ida Zetterström. This consistent display of power has positioned her as a formidable force in the highly competitive Top Fuel category. The final round saw her car’s safety system automatically engage due to pan pressure, causing a shutdown and allowing opponent Shawn langdon to take the win. Despite the final-round setback, Force expressed pride in her team’s performance, noting their ability to reach the final and achieve such extraordinary numbers.
This season has been especially poignant for the Force family, with drag racing icon John Force, Brittany’s father, on the road to recovery following a serious crash in June 2024. The 75-year-old, a 16-time Funny Car champion, sustained multiple injuries, including a traumatic brain injury, and has recently shared that he does not anticipate a return to driving but remains committed to the sport.
