Tourist Dies During Boat Trip in Türkiye, Party Continues Onboard
ANTALYA, Türkiye – A British tourist died during a boat trip off the coast of Türkiye on July 27th, sparking outrage from his family who allege the crew was unprepared to respond to the emergency and allowed a party to continue onboard instantly following the incident. The victim, 27-year-old Nakita Colville, was pronounced dead at a local hospital after being rescued from the water by Coast Guard teams.
Colville’s daughter, speaking to The Sun, described a scene of inaction. “They just watched, not knowing what to do,” she said. “One of the crew members even declared my dead father and covered his body with a towel.” The family of ten had arrived in Türkiye on July 20th for a vacation. Following the rescue and confirmation of death, the vessel reportedly continued its scheduled entertainment, including a foam party, which deeply upset the grieving relatives. “We lived the worst moment of our lives, and they just followed as if nothing had happened,” Nakita Colville stated.
Reports from other tourists corroborate the family’s claims of inadequate emergency preparedness. Reviews on TripAdvisor detail a lack of established emergency protocols, with one passenger writing, “No isolation from the area, no immediate resuscitation attempt… Then the song played again as if nothing had happened.”
Authorities in both Türkiye and the United Kingdom have conducted examinations to determine the cause of Colville’s death, but results have so far been inconclusive. Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
