Brit Awards 2026: Best Red Carpet Looks & Boldest Fashion Moments

Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another dominated the 2026 British Academy Film Awards, securing six wins including Best Film and Best Director, announced at a ceremony hosted by Alan Cumming at the Royal Festival Hall in London on February 22nd.

The film also took home awards for Adapted Screenplay, Cinematography, Editing, and Best Supporting Actor, awarded to Sean Penn. Leonardo DiCaprio and Teyana Taylor were also nominated for their performances in the film, according to the BFI.

Jessie Buckley won Leading Actress for her role in Hamnet, which was also awarded Outstanding British Film. Max Richter received the award for Original Score for Hamnet. Ryan Coogler’s Sinners also had a successful night, winning Original Screenplay and seeing Wunmi Mosaku recognized with the Best Supporting Actress award. Ludwig Göransson also won an award for Original Score for Sinners.

Sentimental Value was named Best Film Not in the English Language. Robert Aramayo won Leading Actor for his performance in I Swear, and the film also secured the Best Casting award. Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein was recognized for its artistic achievements, winning awards for Costume Design, Production Design, and Make-up & Hair. Avatar: Fire and Ash won the award for Special Visual Effects, and F1 was honored for its Sound design.

The BFI-backed film My Father’s Shadow, directed by Akinola Davies Jr., won Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer. Two Black Boys in Paradise won British Short Animation.

The ceremony, broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, and on E! in North America, saw One Battle After Another lead the nominations with 14, followed by Sinners with 13, according to Rotten Tomatoes.

Josh Safdie’s Marty Supreme, despite receiving 11 nominations, did not win in any category, tying the BAFTA record for most losses in a single night, as noted by Variety.
