Bridgerton Ball in Bucharest: Proposal & Season 4 Launch Details
Bucharest’s Palace of the Parliament hosted a lavish masked ball on Thursday, February 19, 2026, transporting over 850 guests into the world of the hit Netflix series, Bridgerton. The event, held a week before the release of the fourth season, drew a mix of fans and Romanian celebrities, alongside the stars of the show: Luke Thompson, Yerin Ha, Hannah Dodd and Ruth Gemmell.
Guests, embracing the Regency era aesthetic, arrived in spectacular costumes and masks, transforming the palace’s ballroom into a scene reminiscent of the popular series. Attendees included prominent figures from Romanian cinema – Daniel Nuță, Victoria Răileanu, and Alexandru Ion – as well as popular musicians such as Sore, Speak, Ştefania, Feli Donose, Mira, Cornel Ilie, Elena Gheorghe, Nicole Cherry, and Lidia Buble. Romanian athletes David Popovici and Leonard Doroftei were also among those present, according to reports.
The event served as a celebration for the fourth season of Bridgerton, which is being released in two parts. The first four episodes are currently available on Netflix, with the remaining episodes scheduled for release on February 26th.
The fourth season centers on Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson), who, despite his mother’s urging, resists settling down. At a masquerade ball hosted by his mother, he becomes captivated by a mysterious woman in silver. With the reluctant assistance of his sister Eloise (Claudia Jessie), Benedict attempts to uncover the identity of the masked woman, unaware that she is Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), a resourceful housemaid working for Araminta Gun (Katie Leung). The storyline explores the complexities of class and societal expectations as Benedict grapples with his attraction to Sophie, struggling to reconcile his feelings with the societal divide between them.
The ball itself was punctuated by a particularly memorable moment when a fan unexpectedly proposed to their partner on stage, a scene met with applause and congratulations from the cast. The moment was captured by attendees and shared widely online.
The production of Bridgerton, by Shondaland and Jess Brownell, continues to explore themes of love and societal constraints, mirroring the romantic entanglements of other Bridgerton siblings, including Francesca (Hannah Dodd) and Colin (Luke Newton), and Penelope (Nicola Coughlan).
