Milwaukee Brewers manager Pat Murphy has been named the National League Manager of the Year for the second consecutive season, the Baseball Writers’ Association of America announced Monday. Murphy secured the honor after guiding the Brewers to a 92-70 record and a National League Central Division title in 2023, building upon his interim success from the prior year.
Murphy initially took the helm mid-season in 2022 following Craig Counsell’s departure, leading Milwaukee to a surprising playoff berth. this year’s award recognizes his ability to sustain winning baseball and navigate a full season as the team’s official manager. The award is significant for the Brewers organization, solidifying a period of consistent contention, and for Murphy, cementing his reputation as one of baseball’s most effective leaders.
The voting results,compiled from ballots submitted by 32 members of the BBWAA,revealed a clear preference for Murphy. He received 18 first-place votes, totaling 104 points. Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo finished second with 83 points, and Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker placed third with 58 points.
