Brazil’s Elite Buy Bombardier Global 8000: The World’s Fastest Jet
Brazilian business leaders are among the first to purchase the newly certified Bombardier Global 8000, the world’s fastest and longest-range executive jet, capable of flying non-stop from São Paulo to Sydney. The Batista family of JBS, André Esteves of BTG Pactual and João Adibe of Cimed have all placed orders for the aircraft, according to individuals familiar with the transactions.
The demand for the Global 8000, which carries a price tag of at least $80 million, underscores the continued growth of the executive aviation sector in Brazil, a country that already boasts one of the largest private jet fleets globally. Historically, smaller aircraft have been favored by Brazilian executives needing to traverse the country’s vast distances and circumvent infrastructure challenges, a market segment dominated by Embraer’s Phenom 100.
However, recent years have seen a shift towards larger aircraft within Brazil’s aviation market. The Brazilian General Aviation Association (ABAG) reported a 35% increase in the national fleet size over the past two years, with owners of turboprops upgrading to jets and existing jet owners seeking larger models. This trend is visible at the Port of Vitória, where increased activity is linked to the arrival of components for these larger aircraft.
Beyond the Global 8000, Brazilian entrepreneurs Alexandre Grendene and Leila Pereira have purchased two of the first Falcon 10X aircraft sold by Dassault, slated for delivery next year. According to Citi, which provides financing for medium and large-cabin jets in 28 countries, Brazil is a key market for this business and is expected to continue its growth trajectory.
“The internationalization of high-net-worth families is a structural trend that is expected to deepen in Brazil, driving demand for aircraft,” stated Fernando Fleury, head of Citi Private Bank in Brazil. “We see this priority reflected in family offices, which now have dedicated teams managing aviation needs, including pilot care, maintenance, hangarage, and flight planning.”
Bombardier recognizes the growing Brazilian demand and believes the Global 8000 addresses the needs of Brazilian business leaders with global ambitions. Officially launched in May 2022, the first Global 8000 entered service in December 2025, with Canadian entrepreneur Patrick Dovigi, CEO of Green For Life Environmental, as its inaugural owner.
The Global 8000 boasts a maximum speed of Mach 0.95 (1,160 km/h) and a range of 8,000 nautical miles (15,000 km) without refueling, enabling non-stop flights between São Paulo, and Sydney. Bombardier emphasizes the aircraft’s comfort features for long-distance travel, including five cabin environments, a low cabin altitude to minimize physiological effects, reduced noise levels, and a smooth ride due to its small, flexible wings.
The aircraft’s performance characteristics, particularly its takeoff distance of 1.7 km and landing distance of 700 meters, are too appealing to Brazilian buyers, allowing access to a wider range of airports than its competitors. Existing Global 7500 owners can upgrade to the 8000 for approximately $5 million, including software and fuel system updates.
