Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been diagnosed with skin cancer, according to his physician, Claudio Birolini. The diagnosis follows a recent operation on Sunday during which suspicious skin areas were removed.
Dr. Birolini stated that two instances of skin cancer were identified and will require regular monitoring. He characterized the cancer as “neither the mildest nor the most aggressive form, but still a form of skin cancer.”
Recent Hospitalization
This diagnosis comes shortly after Bolsonaro was hospitalized on Tuesday due to complaints of nausea, dizziness, and low blood pressure. He spent one night in the hospital, where traces of recent pneumonia were also detected. The 70-year-old was discharged on Wednesday.
ongoing Health concerns and Legal Battles
Bolsonaro has experienced recurring health issues stemming from a stabbing attack during the 2018 election campaign. He is currently under house arrest following a conviction last week for his involvement in a failed coup attempt following his defeat to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The conviction carries a sentence exceeding 27 years in prison.
