Brazil: Bolsonaro Diagnosed with Skin Cancer After Surgery

Brazil: Former‌ President⁣ Bolsonaro Diagnosed with Skin Cancer

Former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has been diagnosed ⁣with skin cancer, according to his physician, Claudio Birolini. The diagnosis‍ follows a recent operation on Sunday during‍ which suspicious skin areas ​were removed.

Dr. Birolini⁤ stated ‍that two instances of skin cancer were identified and will require regular monitoring. ⁢ He characterized the cancer as “neither the ​mildest nor the​ most aggressive ⁣form,but still a form of skin cancer.”

Recent Hospitalization

This diagnosis ⁣comes shortly⁢ after Bolsonaro was‌ hospitalized on ​Tuesday due⁣ to complaints of nausea, dizziness, and low blood pressure. He spent one night in the hospital, where traces of recent pneumonia were also detected. The 70-year-old was discharged ‌on Wednesday.

Bolsonaro has experienced⁢ recurring health⁣ issues stemming from a stabbing attack⁢ during the 2018⁤ election campaign. He is currently under house ‍arrest ‌following a conviction last ⁢week for ⁤his involvement in ​a failed coup attempt⁤ following his defeat⁢ to current President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. The ⁣conviction carries a sentence exceeding 27⁢ years in⁣ prison.
