A paper chain stripped of its final links. That was the quiet marker of a digital presence built on millions of views, a countdown abruptly silenced when Braedon Peltier died at the age of 31 on September 25.

The Millions Who Watched the Paper Chains Fall

For more than four million followers on TikTok, the siblings were a fixture of the calendar. Braedon and Brenna Peltier turned the simple act of removing links from a paper chain into an eagerly awaited ritual, counting down the days to major holidays including Thanksgiving, Halloween, and Christmas. Braedon’s regular appearances made him a familiar presence on feeds across the platform, turning the recurring series into a cornerstone of the account. But the rhythm of the viral videos eventually broke. The family stopped producing the Christmas countdown series after Braedon experienced a major health scare. Brenna Peltier explained to followers at the time that the family needed to put his health and routine first, noting that his ongoing medical care took priority over content creation.

A Childhood Diagnosis and Decades of Complications

The sudden and unexpected death followed a lifetime of managing childhood brain cancer and subsequent health complications. Brenna Peltier shared in an emotional post that her brother was diagnosed with brain cancer when he was just 5 years old. Although he remained cancer-free for years following the initial diagnosis, he faced numerous health challenges throughout his life. Braedon spent much of the previous year in and out of the hospital dealing with ongoing medical problems. In her tribute, Brenna wrote that while he faced these complications, his body was simply done fighting. She added that he remained blissfully unaware of the hand he had been dealt, never complaining and always trying to make people smile.

Social Media Accounts Transformed Into a Time Capsule

In a statement shared with People, Brenna Peltier asked followers to remember her brother as funny, kind, caring, loving, and brave. She noted that her social media accounts will now serve as a time capsule for the hundreds of videos documenting their memories together, ensuring his legacy lives on for the community of followers who grew to love him.
