Comedy club to Host fundraising Event for Veterans Group
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (November 10, 2024) – Don’s House of Comedy will host ”No Laugh Left Behind,” a comedy show and silent auction benefiting SOKY Patriots, on November 16th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event aims to honor veterans and raise funds for the local association that supports them.
The show was created four years ago by Janese Cleary in memory of her late husband, don, a Vietnam War veteran who loved comedy. “I got it started about 4 years ago in honor of my late husband. He was a veteran,he served in Vietnam,” Cleary said. “He absolutely loved comedy, and so when he passed away, I wanted to think of a way I could honor him, and what better way than to name a comedy club after him.”
The event will be held at White Squirrel brewery in Bowling Green. Co-owner Sean stevens emphasized his immediate support for the initiative.”I love it, I love the timing as it was just Veterans Day. My father was a veteran, and my brother is still active. Janese and I have been working together for quite a while now, and so when she came to me about this, I just thought it was a no-brainer,” Stevens stated.
Service One Credit Union is sponsoring the event, with Vice President of Marketing and Community progress Jennifer Martin noting the organization’s commitment to community impact. “With Service One, we think about impact on the community,” Martin said. “There’s so many different opportunities to make an impact, and we definitely wanted to serve our veterans of course, and we saw the opportunity to do it in a way that’s a little more humorous than others.”
