Stephanie Werner’s New Thriller, “What they Hide,” promises Suspense
Wiehl. Author Stephanie Werner’s ninth book, the crime thriller “What They Hide,” is now available, offering readers a new case for private investigator Malin Larsen. While continuing the storyline introduced in her 2022 novel, “Night over Veendorf,” “What They Hide” is designed to be a standalone read.
Set on the German North Sea coast near cuxhaven – incorporating three fictional villages alongside real locations - the novel distinguishes itself from typical regional thrillers. Werner, a Wiehl-based author with 20 years of dedicated writing experience, found inspiration during a vacation. “The idea for the novel ’what They Hide’ came up when I went on vacation for a week in the area around Cuxhaven and enjoyed the beautiful landscape on the North Sea and Elbe. In my spiritual eye, I saw my two protagonists and quickly a new case for private investigator Malin Larssen came to mind.”
The story follows Larsen and her friend,IT specialist Daniel Hansen,as they become acquainted with their new neighbor,Annika meyer. Larsen quickly suspects Meyer is concealing something, and her independent investigation – despite Daniel’s reservations – uncovers a series of deaths connected to Meyer’s past. As Larsen delves deeper, she begins to receive death threats.
Ultimately, Daniel joins the investigation, revealing a decade-old tragedy with present-day repercussions that place Larsen in grave danger.
“What They Hide” (ISBN 978-381-9249006) is priced at 12.50 euros and is published by Books on Demand. It can be ordered through bookstores and online retailers, and will soon be available as an e-book.
