Bomb threats target European airports and media outlets
European airports and media outlets faced a second wave of bomb threats on November 6, 2026, forcing evacuations.
Flight Diversions and Terminal Clearances Across Europe
The security alerts targeted roughly twenty aircraft over a two-day span, including a Wizzair flight from Prague to Rome that was diverted to Venezia after a bomb threat telephoned into the air traffic control tower at Fiumicino. Passengers aboard a Ryanair service operating between Rome and Lisbon faced similar checks after landing at Humberto Delgado Airport, where Lisbon police verified the origin of the initial call.
Prague Airport reported that at least eight arriving and departing flights faced direct threats. Airport spokespersons confirmed that inbound alerts originated from Denmark, Spain, and Great Britain, while outbound services to the Netherlands, Cyprus, Romania, Italy, and the UK were also targeted. Four aircraft in flight over French territory triggered alerts, prompting the French government to deploy bomb squads for safety checks and launch an investigation into the origin of the threats.

Irish Newsrooms Evacuated After Email Threats
Parallel threats were directed at European media organizations. The station interrupted its flagship morning broadcast, “Today with David McCullagh,” replacing live programming with music and pre-recorded messages while police K-9 units swept the facility. Broadcasts resumed at 10:13 local time. RTÉ confirmed in a statement that it had received a threat along with several other media organizations, noting that buildings were evacuated and services affected in accordance with security protocols.
Marconi House, which houses Bauer Media Audio Ireland stations including Newstalk, Today FM, Spin 1038, and 98FM, also executed emergency evacuations. Newstalk’s morning program hosted by Claire Byrne was interrupted before broadcasting resumed. The Irish Independent confirmed the receipt of an identical threatening email that required staff to vacate the premises, while Virgin Media also received the threat but continued broadcasting without evacuating. Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin stated that police and military forces are actively investigating whether the communications stem from a lone actor or a synchronized operation.
