Boca Juniors to Temporarily Relocate to Estadio Único de La Plata During Bombonera Renovation
La Plata, Argentina – Boca Juniors will play its home matches at the Estadio Único de La Plata while undergoing extensive renovations to its iconic La Bombonera stadium, the club confirmed today. The move, expected to last throughout the duration of the remodeling project, will allow for a significant modernization of the historic venue.
The ambitious project centers on expanding the Bombonera’s capacity and upgrading its facilities to meet FIFA requirements.Key improvements include the construction of a new tribune on Iberlucea Street, a repositioned playing field to maximize space, an increase in corporate boxes from 86 to 240, the installation of a roof over the third tier, and a 360-degree screen. Elevators and adapted access points will also be added. The entire renovation is estimated to cost under $100 million, funded through presales of the new corporate boxes and partnerships with local businesses.
The planned upgrades aim to transform the Bombonera into the largest and most modern stadium in Argentina,while preserving its unique atmosphere. The relocation to La Plata represents a ancient shift for the club and its supporters,but officials believe the long-term benefits of a state-of-the-art stadium will be substantial. Boca Juniors anticipates returning to a fully renovated La Bombonera upon completion of the project.
