Boca Juniors beat Unión 3-0 as Leonel Flores scores a late brace
Boca Juniors extended its unbeaten run to 16 matches by defeating Unión de Santa Fe 3-0 at La Bombonera in the 11th round of the Torneo Clausura. Lautaro Di Lollo opened the scoring in the first half before 19-year-old substitute Leonel Flores sealed the victory with a late second-half brace.
Lautaro Di Lollo Breaks the Deadlock at La Bombonera
The match began with Unión pressing through Mauro Luna Diale, forcing a firm response from Boca goalkeeper Leandro Brey. The deadlock broke in the 22nd minute when Leandro Paredes delivered a free-kick from the right flank. Lautaro Di Lollo met the cross with a crossed header to score the opening goal. The goal marked Di Lollo’s sixth for Boca, all of which have been scored via headers. Following the breakthrough, Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side assumed control of the pitch while maintaining defensive stability under the watchful eye of French forward André-Pierre Gignac, who observed from a stadium box.
Leonel Flores Secures the Victory With Late Brace
Boca sustained its attacking pressure into the second half with attempts from Alan Velasco, Santiago Ascacíbar, and Sebastián Villa. In the 15th minute of the second half, manager Rodolfo Arruabarrena introduced Carlos Palacios, Enner Valencia, and Leonel Flores to refresh the attacking line. Flores, who had recently made his debut with the Argentina national team, made an immediate impact after entering from the bench. At the 37th minute, following a build-up on the right side and a cross from Leandro Lozano, Flores collected the ball, cut inside, and shot toward the far post for his first goal at La Bombonera. In the 47th minute, Flores received a pass from Valencia inside the box, executed a step-over, and fired another right-footed shot past the defense to establish the 3-0 final score.
