BNL Athletics Winter 2026/2027 Sports Registration Is Open
Berlin Central School District and New Lebanon Central School District students aiming to compete in winter sports have until November 16, 2026, to complete their online registration through FamilyID, berlincentral.org reported. The portal opened on October 16, 2026, allowing families to sign student-athletes up across modified, junior varsity, and varsity levels for the 2026/2027 season.
District Offers Winter Sports Across Three Grade Tiers
The district provides opportunities in varsity, junior varsity, and modified levels for girls basketball, boys basketball, boys wrestling, and girls wrestling. Varsity and modified levels are open for bowling and swimming, alongside varsity boys volleyball.
Competition levels map directly to student grade tiers. Seventh and eighth graders participate at the modified level, ninth and tenth graders at the junior varsity level, and eleventh and twelfth graders at the varsity level. Students who played at a higher level last year, or who already completed the Athletic Placement Process for evaluation in seventh or eighth grade, may register for those advanced tiers.
Registration Closes November 16 Through FamilyID Platform
Registration closes firmly on November 16, 2026, with district officials noting that space is limited. Practices for junior varsity and varsity teams begin on November 16, 2026, while modified practices start a week later on November 23, 2026. Tryouts for junior varsity and varsity squads take place during the first week of practice.
Families must complete registration through FamilyID, a secure platform now part of the ArbiterSports family. First-time users must create and activate an account via a confirmation email before submitting their student’s information.
Students Must Submit Valid State Health Examination Forms
State regulations require every student to have an up-to-date physical examination on file in the health office prior to stepping onto the court or mat. Physicals remain valid for one year from the exact date of the exam and must cover the duration of the sports season. While physical examinations from private physicians are accepted, they must appear on the New York State Education Department approved health examination form.
Families submitting summer physicals must send the completed documentation directly to the school nurse as soon as possible to ensure fast registration approval. School nurse Michele Corsey can be reached at 518-658-1500 ext. 1061 or via email at mcorsey@berlincentral.org. Families must immediately inform the nurse's office of any medical changes or injuries occurring between submission and the start of the season.
