Blue Jays Sign Jesse Hahn to Minor League Deal: Pitcher’s MLB Journey

The Toronto Blue Jays have signed veteran right-handed pitcher Jesse Hahn to a minor-league deal, the team announced Saturday. Hahn will receive a non-roster invitation to major league spring training, according to official transactions.

Hahn, 36, brings eight seasons of major league experience to Toronto, most recently making five appearances for the Seattle Mariners in 2024. Prior to that, he pitched in the minors for both the Mariners and the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2024 after recovering from a shoulder injury sustained in 2021, which sidelined him for two seasons.

During his limited action with Seattle last year, Hahn allowed three earned runs over five innings, recording three strikeouts and five walks – three of which were intentional. He also logged 32 1/3 innings across 35 appearances with Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 5.85 ERA and 34 strikeouts.

Originally a sixth-round selection by the Tampa Bay Rays in 2010, Hahn has also pitched for the San Diego Padres, Oakland Athletics, and Kansas City Royals. He owns a career record of 19-22 with a 4.24 ERA across 316 1/3 innings pitched. His most effective season came during the COVID-shortened 2020 campaign with the Royals.

The Blue Jays have been active in bolstering their pitching staff this offseason, recently signing right-handed submariner Trevor Rogers to a three-year contract. Although Rogers is expected to be a key part of the bullpen, Hahn will compete with other right-handed pitchers for a role during spring training. The Blue Jays’ bullpen depth is a point of focus heading into the 2026 season.
