A late-game grand slam by Eugene Suarez sealed the win for Seattle, sending T-Mobile Park into a frenzy and shifting the momentum as the series heads to Toronto.
The game remained tightly contested thru eight innings, featuring stellar defensive plays from both sides. After falling behind early due to a Eugene Suarez home run in the second, Toronto battled back, tying the game in the fifth with a double from George Springer and taking the lead in the sixth on a single by Ernie Clement. However, Cal raleigh answered for the Mariners in the eighth, launching his 64th home run of the season – and fourth of the playoffs – to tie the score.
The decisive moment came in the bottom of the eighth. After Polanco and Naylor earned bases on balls and Arozarena was hit by a pitch, Suarez stepped up to the plate with the bases loaded and delivered a grand slam, extending Seattle’s lead to 6-2.
