SEATTLE – The Toronto Blue Jays avoided a 3-0 series deficit, defeating the Seattle Mariners 13-4 in Game 3 of the American League Championship Series on Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2025.the victory marks Toronto’s first win of the series, though Seattle still leads 2-1.
A late offensive surge propelled the blue Jays. Catcher Alejandro Kirk hit a three-run home run during the sixth inning, adding to the team’s momentum. In the ninth, Addison Barger launched a solo home run, completing a 13-run performance.
“This is a team that has swung the bat well all year and they didn’t miss much tonight,” Mariners manager Dan Wilson said, acknowledging Toronto’s powerful hitting.
Seattle managed to score four runs, including back-to-back solo home runs in the eighth inning from Randy Arozarena and Cal Raleigh, the major league’s regular-season home run leader. Toronto reliever Yariel Rodríguez surrendered both blasts.
Blue Jays manager John Schneider had previously emphasized the importance of precise pitching to avoid giving up home runs to Seattle’s strong hitters. “They’ve scored a lot of their runs this post-season via the home run, so we’ve gotta make pitches and be pretty stubborn in certain situations with where you’re throwing the ball,” Schneider stated.
The best-of-seven series continues with Game 4 on Thursday night in Seattle at 8:30 p.m. ET. Toronto needs to win four games to advance to the World Series, a title they haven’t reached since 1993.
Should the Blue Jays advance, they will face either the Los Angeles Dodgers or the Milwaukee Brewers, who are currently competing in the national league Championship Series. The Brewers finished the regular season with 97 wins, the most in MLB.The Dodgers, currently leading the NLCS 2-0, won the World Series in 2020 and 2024.
