Blick: Trump Appoints Beni Rae Harmony as White House Deputy Press Secretary
Beni Rae Harmony was appointed as the deputy White House press secretary for U.S. President Donald Trump, stepping into the administration’s communications team after working as a correspondent for the right-leaning network Real America’s Voice, Blick reported.
The Path from Conservative Activism to the White House Press Office
Harmony’s political career began well before her appointment in Washington. As detailed by Bild, she worked early on for conservative figures including Republican representatives Matt Gaetz and Paul Gosar. She also spent time with Turning Point USA, where founder Charlie Kirk became a formative influence whom she later described as her mentor and first boss.
Beyond her work in congressional offices, Harmony’s background includes a stint in 2022 with American Global Strategies, the consulting firm of former Trump national security advisor Robert O’Brien. She subsequently transitioned into local media, working as a moderator for the ABC affiliate WICS in Illinois before joining Real America’s Voice as a Washington correspondent, according to Blick.
Controversy Over 2021 Social Media Images and Political Backing
The appointment immediately drew scrutiny regarding a 2021 photograph. As reported by Web.de and Bluewin, the image shows Harmony posing alongside an older relative with firearms while wearing a T-shirt bearing the phrase “Fuck Joe Biden.” The picture was originally published by congressional candidate Jarome Bell, who identified Harmony as his public affairs director.
The White House defended the personnel decision against incoming criticism. Anna Kelly, another deputy press secretary, characterized Harmony as a trustworthy voice of the MAGA movement, according to Bild.
Outlets Report on Harmony's Education and Employment History
Media reporting on the appointment highlighted different facets of Harmony’s employment history and education. Bild noted that Harmony did not officially complete her university studies at Arizona State University or the University of Illinois in Springfield, citing career opportunities that pulled her into the workforce early. Bluewin added context regarding her departure from local broadcasting in 2025 following an emotional public tribute to the late Charlie Kirk.
While Bild and Web.de emphasized the visual controversy surrounding the 2021 firearm photograph, regional outlets also documented her recent travel alongside President Trump aboard Air Force One during trips that included Ireland. These assignments as a White House correspondent directly preceded her formal integration into the administration’s press office.
