Blake Lively & Justin Baldoni’s Legal Battle Heads to Court Over ‘It Ends With Us’

February 13, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The legal battle between actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni over the film “It Ends With Us” is headed to trial after mediation efforts failed, according to multiple reports. The case, stemming from allegations of sexual harassment made by Lively against Baldoni during the film’s production, remains unresolved despite a full day of negotiations held in Modern York earlier this month.

Bryan Freedman, Baldoni’s attorney, confirmed to reporters outside the courthouse that a settlement had not been reached. “We’re looking forward to it,” Freedman stated, referring to the upcoming trial, as reported by ABC7 Los Angeles and other news outlets.

Lively initially filed a lawsuit in December 2024, alleging that Baldoni engaged in inappropriate behavior on set, causing her “severe emotional distress.” The suit, detailed in reports from Variety and Deadline, specifically requests that Baldoni cease sharing explicit images and videos of women with her, refrain from discussing sexual encounters in her presence and limit the inclusion of sexual content beyond what was originally agreed upon in the script.

The actress further claimed that Sony Pictures had supported her requests, but that Baldoni subsequently launched a campaign to damage her reputation.

Baldoni responded with a countersuit in January 2025, accusing Lively and her husband, actor Ryan Reynolds, of defamation and extortion. According to reports from Law Commentary, Baldoni alleged that Lively attempted to leverage her friendship with Taylor Swift to exert undue influence over the film’s production and gain greater control. That countersuit was later dismissed by a court.

The trial is currently scheduled to begin in May. The outcome of the case remains uncertain, with both parties preparing to present their arguments in court.
