For the second consecutive year,three Black actresses are set to compete for the prestigious Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series award.
Quinta Brunson, the reigning Emmy winner for her beloved role as Janine Teagues in Abbott Elementary, is once again in contention for her comedic brilliance.The mockumentary-style sitcom also earned a nod for Outstanding Comedy Series.
Joining Brunson in the competitive category is Ayo Edebiri, who garnered an Emmy for Outstanding Supporting Actress in 2023 for her dynamic performance as Sydney Adamu in FX’s acclaimed dramedy The Bear. This year, Edebiri is recognized in the lead actress category for her continued standout work.
The esteemed trio is completed by two-time Emmy winner Uzo Aduba. Aduba, celebrated for her past wins on Orange Is the New Black, receives a nomination for her portrayal of the eccentric detective Cordelia Cupp in Netflix’s The Residence.
