Italian Company Gifts Employees €1,500 Birthday Bonus, Citing Workers as “Real Capital”
CHIAMPO, ITALY – In a remarkable display of employee gratitude, Nardi Outdoor, a leading Italian garden furniture manufacturer, is providing each of its 180 employees with a €1,500 gross bonus in the month of their birthday. The initiative, announced by company founder Giampietro Nardi on the occasion of his 80th birthday on June 2nd, is being hailed as a notable gesture of gratitude and a potential model for other businesses.
Nardi, whose company boasts a turnover exceeding €83 million, explained the decision stems from a belief that employees are the “real capital of the company.” “We wanted too demonstrate our gratitude for their work with a symbolic, but decidedly tangible gesture,” Nardi stated.
This isn’t the first time Nardi Outdoor has prioritized employee welfare. In 2016, the company distributed a net welfare prize of €1,000 to each employee. More recently, in 2022, Nardi proactively combatted inflation by increasing staff salaries by 5%.
The birthday bonus, totaling over €270,000, is fully legal and represents a substantial financial benefit for Nardi Outdoor employees. The company,based in Chiampo,Vicenza,is now attracting attention for its progressive approach to employee compensation and recognition.
