Binance Launches QR Code Crypto Payments in Argentina
Buenos Aires, Argentina – Binance has introduced a new QR code payment system in Argentina, enabling users to make purchases with over 100 cryptocurrencies – including USDT and BTC - at merchants accepting QR payments. The move aims to bridge the gap between digital assets and everyday transactions in a country with a highly developed QR payment ecosystem.
The platform facilitates seamless conversion of selected cryptocurrencies into Argentine pesos through a regulated local partner, allowing merchants to receive payments in local currency while users spend directly from their Binance Spot, Funding, or Earn account balances. Binance highlights the system’s “speed, security, and versatility to use your digital assets at any merchant, without fees or complications,” positioning it as “the simplest and most practical way to integrate cryptocurrencies into everyday life.”
To complete a transaction, users scan a merchant’s QR code with the Binance app, select their preferred cryptocurrency, and confirm the payment. Binance Pay, the company’s global payment system for borderless crypto transfers, underpins the functionality.
“Crypto was always meant to be practical,” stated Andres Ondarra, adding,”Our goal is to remove barriers so everyone, from a student buying coffee to a small business owner, can use crypto as easily as they use cash or cards.QR payments bring us closer to that vision.”
The QR payment feature is currently available to Binance users in Argentina with sufficient cryptocurrency balances and the latest version of the Binance app. All transactions are finalized in Argentine pesos, converted at the prevailing market rate.
