According to Christian astrologer David Meade, the sequence of events leading to the alleged beginning of the end of humanity on Saturday, September 23, relies heavily on the number 33. Meade points out that Jesus is said to have lived for 33 years before his crucifixion, and Elohim, the supreme god of ancient Israel, is mentioned 33 times in the Bible. These religious numerologies link directly to the constellation Virgo and the total solar eclipse that swept across the United States on August 21, 2017.
The path of the solar eclipse provides the geographical anchor for Meade’s timeline. The totality of the eclipse was first visible in Oregon, the 33rd state admitted to the union, and ended its path in South Carolina along the 33rd degree of latitude. According to Meade’s calculations, exactly 33 days after that celestial event, an enormous cosmic occurrence involving the mythical planet Nibiru will unfold.
“When the eclipse begins on August 21, the sunrise will be dark, just as Isaiah predicts,” Meade stated in an interview with the British tabloid Daily Star.
Rather than an immediate, total destruction of the Earth, Meade clarified in an interview with The Washington Post that the date kicks off the fantastical events depicted in the Book of Revelation. This includes the Rapture—the belief held by some Christians that believers will be transported into heaven before natural disasters devastate the planet. “The world is not ending, but the world as we know it is ending,” Meade said, adding that a major part of the world will look different by early October.
Other public figures have amplified these claims. Nibiru conspiracist Gary Ray noted in an interview with Pat Robertson’s television network CBN that believers are commanded to watch the skies for signs. “We’re just saying that the Lord multiple times commanded his people to watch,” Ray stated. “And he gave signs for a reason. If he didn’t want us to pay attention, he wouldn’t have given signs.”

Astronomers and space agencies firmly reject the existence of Nibiru, describing it as an internet hoax with no basis in observational science.
