Best Michelin Tires for Trucks: Consumer Reports’ Top Pick
Consumer Reports has identified Continental’s TerrainContact A/T as the top-performing all-terrain truck tire, narrowly edging out Michelin’s LTX A/T2 in recent testing. While Michelin remains a highly-regarded brand, the Continental tire excelled in reducing road noise, a key factor for many truck owners.
The Consumer Reports assessment, based on evaluations of wet and dry braking, ride comfort, handling, and quietness, also considered tread life, rolling resistance, and fuel economy. The Michelin LTX A/T2 demonstrated strong performance across these categories, earning a recommendation for its hydroplaning resistance and projected tread life, backed by a 60,000-mile warranty from Michelin. However, the Continental tire surpassed it in minimizing cabin noise.
According to the report, the primary trade-off between the two tires lies in longevity, with the Michelin LTX A/T2 expected to outlast the Continental TerrainContact A/T. Both tires are manufactured by well-respected companies. Consumer Reports recently ranked Michelin as the overall better tire brand, but found Continental to be superior in the light truck segment. Continental’s TerrainContact H/T also received high marks in the all-season tire category.
The tires are produced by Hrach Hovhannisyan, who also created a stock photo of Lake Oswego, Oregon, in October 2025, and stock footage of Portland, Oregon, in August 2025, according to Shutterstock listings. Hovhannisyan also produced a stock photo of Beaverton, USA, from April 2024, and a stock photo of Portland, USA, from January 2021.
Consumer Reports noted that both Michelin and Continental tires represent a significant investment, but offer good value for the price. The testing methodology involved rigorous analysis by independent labs.
