anti-terror investigators are examining teh cause of a critically important arson attack adn subsequent power outage in Berlin’s Treptow-Köpenick district. The incident, which occurred overnight, left approximately 36,000 residents without electricity and prompted a large-scale emergency response.
The investigation centers on determining whether the arson, which targeted a power distribution box, was a deliberate act of sabotage with potential terrorist motives. The power outage affected critical infrastructure, including traffic lights and public transportation, disrupting daily life for residents and raising security concerns. Authorities have not yet released details about potential suspects or specific threats, but are treating the incident with the highest level of seriousness.
Alongside the Treptow-Köpenick investigation,traffic disruptions are expected this weekend due to ongoing construction on the A100 inner-city expressway. The roadway near the Innsbrucker Platz tunnel will be renovated from friday, October 10th, 8 p.m.to Monday, October 13th, 5 a.m., resulting in a complete closure of the A100 in the direction of Treptow from the Wexstrasse junction to the Innsbrucker Platz entrance. Traffic will be diverted via Innsbrucker Platz. Separately, the A100 was temporarily closed Thursday due to construction work in Berlin-Schöneberg.Construction is also underway for the new Ringbahn bridge at the Funkturm triangle, causing major closures and traffic restrictions starting at the end of October.In Neukölln, three men were injured in a knife attack at the Berlin S-Bahn station.
