Bengaluru Man Pushes Bedridden Mother to Death From Height
Bengaluru police have arrested a 42-year-old man for allegedly pushing his 75-year-old bedridden mother from the terrace of a residential building on Wednesday afternoon.
The victim, identified as Savithramma, had been suffering from paralysis and was bedridden for the past four to five years. According to police reports, the accused, her son Venkatesh, carried his mother to the terrace of a four-storey building in the BEML Layout of R.R. Nagar before pushing her off, killing her on the spot.
Venkatesh, who works as a sales executive, resided on the second floor of the building on rent along with his family and his mother. Following an initial probe and the suspect’s confession, police took him into custody.
During questioning, Venkatesh told investigators that he committed the act as he could no longer bear to see his mother suffer every day or manage the demands of her care. Preliminary investigations indicate that the accused was distressed over the prolonged nature of her illness.
A case has been registered in connection with the death, and officials are currently probing the possibility of involvement of other individuals in the alleged murder.
