The Cincinnati Bengals are moving in a different direction, announcing the release of veteran linebacker Germaine Pratt on Monday, ending his five-year tenure with the team.

According to Tom Pelissero of NFL Media, the Bengals decided to release Germaine Pratt, a move that comes after Pratt had requested a trade from Cincinnati back in February.
Despite the trade request, the Bengals opted to keep him until the latter part of their offseason program.
Financial Implications
Pratt was slated to earn $5.2 million in base salary for the upcoming season, which would have been the final year of his existing contract. By releasing him, the Bengals will free up $5.85 million in cap space.
Pratt’s tenure with the Bengals
Germaine Pratt had been a consistent presence in the Bengals‘ defense since being drafted in the third round in 2019. In 2024, he recorded 143 total tackles, along with five tackles for loss, four quarterback hits, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles.
