BBVA Provincial has become the first bank in Venezuela to offer a completely contactless self-service experience, completing a nationwide upgrade of its ATM network with new, contactless-enabled machines. The modernization, announced February 11, 2026, allows customers to conduct transactions without physical contact, utilizing chip or contactless technology.

The bank’s new ATMs feature touchscreen navigation and support common banking functions including cash withdrawals, balance inquiries, fund transfers, and PIN changes, according to a press release. BBVA Provincial currently operates over 150 contactless ATMs across the country.

This move expands the bank’s digital ecosystem, integrating contactless functionality with its BBVA Provincial Debit Card and point-of-sale network. “With this implementation, the entity becomes the first bank in Venezuela to offer a 100% contactless self-service experience,” BBVA Provincial stated.

The upgrade reflects BBVA Provincial’s commitment to enhancing customer experience through agile, accessible, and digital banking solutions, the bank said. The new machines are designed to be more modern, faster, and intuitive to leverage.

BBVA Provincial’s announcement follows a broader trend of financial institutions adopting contactless technology to improve security, and convenience. The bank did not specify the cost of the ATM modernization project.
