Bayern Munich Plot Move for Liverpool Winger Rio Ngumoha
Bayern Munich are plotting a move for 18-year-old Liverpool winger Rio Ngumoha, whose contract at Anfield runs until June 2028, goal.com reported.
According to Spanish publication Mundo Deportivo, Ngumoha has fallen down the pecking order under manager Andoni Iraola, despite making the absolute most of his time on the pitch. Across all competitions this season, the young player has made 14 appearances, accumulating 642 minutes and delivering two assists. Talks over a contract extension are ongoing, but the two sides look a long way from striking a deal, according to goal.com.

Earlier reports from the British newspaper the Telegraph indicated that the German heavyweights are eager to secure Ngumoha for 60 million pounds. Liverpool stood firm against Bayern’s approach, asserting their dedication to the player and rejecting any possibility of a departure. Nevertheless, goal.com reported that Bayern are keen to make another attempt, looking to take advantage of the stalled discussions between the player and Liverpool.
Bayern looked into signing Ngumoha over the summer when pushing for competition for Luis Diaz on the left flank, TEAMtalk reported. Ultimately, Liverpool made it crystal clear no deal was there to be made, with Bayern going on to sign Ismael Saibari instead. German journalist Christian Falk recently revealed that Bayern’s interest in Ngumoha has not dissipated, insisting the Bundesliga champions are in talks with the player’s representatives.
Fabrizio Romano provided an update on YouTube, stating that Ngumoha only has eyes for Liverpool and a contract extension is advancing. Romano reported that Liverpool deserve respect in this story and that the player was never for sale over the summer. Romano added that Liverpool want to get a new contract done as well as possible and that conversations are underway and going quite well.
Christian Falk told CF Bayern Insider that Bayern were prepared to pay €70 million (£58.3 million) for Ngumoha over the summer. Falk explained that Bayern held talks with the player’s brother, but the situation was difficult because it was not clear if Liverpool would sell. Falk noted that Bayern are still in talks with Ngumoha’s camp and that he could be an option for the summer.

Rousing The Kop reported that Ngumoha still has two years left to run on his schoolboy terms after joining from Chelsea in 2024. If Ngumoha holds out and still will not put pen to paper with Liverpool, the Reds will almost certainly be forced to sell him rather than lose him for nothing in 2028, according to Rousing The Kop.
