Bartees Strange Reveals Jack Antonoff’s Producing Secrets

Bartees Strange is planning a “simple” new record,set too begin recording in January. The artist shared ⁤details about his ⁢upcoming project​ while at Reading & Leeds 2025, revealing a shift in focus after exploring more elaborate production styles.

Strange expressed admiration for the sonic innovation ‍of Radiohead, stating, “with the⁣ TV stuff, I was like,⁣ ‘This feels like hearing Radiohead or something. I don’t know‍ how they’re doing it ​and I have to⁢ see it.’ I’ve seen them so many times since as a kid in high school. I love them.”

He described the forthcoming album as a purposeful move towards‍ minimalism, explaining, “I’ve kinda done all I need to do with the big stuff. Everyone knows I can produce; I can ⁤make a thing sound cool.⁢ I’m ⁢gonna do something​ small.”

Regarding production, Strange intends to follow his established process. ​”I’m just gonna do it how I always do it. I’ll probably start it by myself,” he said.​ He also plans to share the work-in-progress with jack antonoff, a frequent collaborator and⁣ friend.”I’m definitely gonna​ show it to⁣ Jack, just‌ ’cause ‌we’re friends.⁣ That’s the thing: Jack and I are just buddies now, ⁢so ⁣I’m gonna go over to his house and‍ play it.”

Should ⁣Antonoff offer feedback, Strange anticipates a collaborative approach: “‘Oh, cool – let’s play ⁣with it.'”
