Barcelona Avoid Champions League Sideline as UEFA Partially Lifts Hansi flick Ban
Barcelona have received positive news from UEFA regarding sanctions imposed on manager Hansi Flick and sporting director Deco Sorg following their conduct during the Champions League quarter-final against Inter Milan. Initially facing potential bans from upcoming matches, Mundo Deportivo reports that UEFA has partially lifted the punishments. neither Flick nor Sorg will be barred from any games, though barcelona will be responsible for administrative costs.
The pair will now be placed on a year-long probation period. Any further infringements of UEFA’s rules of conduct could reinstate the original sanctions. The initial punishment stemmed from behavior exhibited during and after the match at the Giuseppe Meazza.
Flick alluded to concerns about the officiating in his post-match press conference, stating, ”Some decisions were 50-50 and they have always gone to Inter. That’s football. We have to accept it. I’m vrey proud of my team.Sometimes you think that some of the referee’s decisions are unfair. But we have to accept it and start again next season.” He added, “I think about it, about the refereeing decisions but I don’t want to talk about it. It’s not fair to my team, who put in huge work. I don’t like to talk about the referee. I’ve told him what I think but I’m not going to say it here.”
