Baltimore Ravens face injuries and home loss streak before Titans game
Heading into Week 4 of the NFL season, the Baltimore Ravens face severe roster depletion with three centers unavailable due to major injuries and Trey Hendrickson ruled out with a finger injury for Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
The Ravens never expected Danny Pinter, Jovaughn Gwyn, and Ethan Pocic to suffer major injuries before October. With all three unavailable, Vega Ioane is shifting from his drafted role as the starting right guard to make his first start at center. Meanwhile, Mike Green and undrafted rookie Ethan Burke will be thrust into bigger roles to make up for the absence of Hendrickson.
Ending a Home Win Drought
Baltimore enters Sunday’s matchup as a clear favorite against the winless Tennessee Titans (0-3), but the team is fighting to reverse a troubling trend at M&T Bank Stadium. The Ravens have lost four straight games in Baltimore dating back to last season, putting them one loss shy of tying the franchise record of five consecutive home defeats set from 2021 to 2022. Offensive tackle Roger Rosengarten acknowledged he could not remember the team’s last home win, which ultimately came on November 23 against the New York Jets.
Quarterback Lamar Jackson noted that “there’s a lot of urgency” to end the slide, calling the home losing streak very disappointing to the team and to Flock Nation. During the four-game home skid, Jackson has thrown two touchdown passes and three interceptions.
Focusing on Execution Over Motivation
Despite the stakes, Ravens coach Jesse Minter has chosen not to use winning at home as direct motivation this week. Instead, the team is emphasizing internal execution and resilience as they prepare to face a Titans squad looking for its own turnaround.
“We want to chase the best version of us,” Minter said. “We are a team that needs to really, really just focus on us and take care of us, clean up things that we can do and that we have major control over. And if we do that, we will live with the results.”
Safety Kyle Hamilton emphasized that every opponent in the professional ranks demands total focus. “I think that is something that in this league can be lost at times,” Hamilton said. “You watch college football, and you see these big Power Four schools playing against smaller teams. There is none of that going on in the NFL.”
