INDIANAPOLIS - the Ball State soccer team secured its second consecutive victory Sunday afternoon, defeating IU Indy 1-0 at Michael Carroll Stadium. The win improves the Cardinals’ record to 2-2 on the season.
The decisive goal came from forward Addie Chester in the 31st minute, marking her fourth goal in just four matches and earning her continued recognition as the reigning mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Goalkeeper Grace Konopatzki anchored the Ball state defense, recording four saves for her first solo shutout of the season.
Both teams registered 12 total shots,with Ball State holding a 7-4 advantage in shots on goal.The Cardinals also earned four corner kicks compared to one for IU Indy, though committed more fouls (10-5). Fiona Kilian joined Chester with two shots on goal, while Delaney Caldwell, Lexi Watkins, and Kaelyn Valleau each forced saves from the Jaguars’ goalkeeper.
Defenders Delaney Ahearn and Audrey Goodyear played the entirety of the match for Ball State. IU Indy falls to 1-4 with the loss.
Ball State returns to action on Sunday, Sept. 7, hosting Butler at 1 p.m. for its first home match in three weeks. A Senior Day ceremony will precede the contest,which will be broadcast on ESPN+.
