Kamp-Lintfort, Germany – Bakery Büsch is launching a limited-edition series of collectible jars featuring original caricatures by artist Thomas Plaßmann, celebrating the humble buttered bread roll – or “Büschs butterbrot-Büchse” – and German “Butterbrot Day” on September 26th. The jars, priced at €12.95 each, will be available in September and October.
The series includes three distinct designs tailored to different demographics: one for the “Malocher” (hard worker), another for the “egg-laying wool milk sow” – a German idiom for a multi-tasking woman – and a third for the “everyday heroine.”
“So we have different motifs for different people with different jobs and everyday life,” explained managing Director Norbert Büsch. “From construction workers to managers, from mechanic to family doctor, from freelancers to the power woman, many shoudl be found in one of the three motifs.” Plaßmann added,”Drawing buttered sockets was a premiere for me. It’s a really great project.”
The initiative coincides with Bakery Büsch’s “Year of Bread” in 2025, a year-long campaign to highlight the importance and diversity of bread.Büsch emphasized the sustainability aspect, stating, “Having and using your own bread box and using it again and again makes a lot less garbage than using bags or foil every day. A can also protects the grocer from the grocer.” He further noted, “Bread is the cheapest luxury that everyone can afford.”
