Bagnères-de-Bigorre Gears Up for “Les Voix du Vallon” Festival, Celebrating Opera adn Classical Music
Bagnères-de-Bigorre is set to host the annual “Les Voix du Vallon” festival, an event dedicated to making grand works and classical music accessible to a wider audience. This year’s festival promises a week filled with vocal performances, emotional resonance, and artistic talent, curated by artistic director Nadine Laurens.
The festival will feature a diverse program, including a presentation of Georges Bizet‘s opera “Carmen” for soloists and orchestra, presented as part of a grand “Iberian” evening complete with a communal paella. Original creations that blend lyrical song with theatrical elements in lighter comedies will also be showcased.Festival Highlights Include Renowned soprano and Ephemeral Choir
Toulouse soprano Céline Laborie returns as the festival’s godmother, presenting two original works: “Singing Broadway” and “va Piano.” These pieces will combine vocal performance with theatrical elements, drawing from musical and cabaret genres.the specially assembled festival orchestra will be conducted by Jean-Guy Olive.
For the second consecutive year, an ephemeral choir will perform on saturday, August 9th, under the direction of Caroline Petitjean. This choir, comprised of thirty amateur singers, will focus on their performance of French operetta. Performances will take place at the Halle aux Grains and the Casino.
The festival culminates in a Gala concert on Sunday, August 10th, at La Halle aux Grains. This concert will feature renowned opera pieces from composers such as Mozart, Donizetti, verdi, Puccini, Rossini, and Gounod.

The “Les Voix du Vallon” association benefits from the support of key partners, including the city of Bagnères and the department, providing institutional backing. The Casino and the Grand Thermal Baths are also essential venues for the event. Notably, the financial company la Conservatrice, driven by three music-loving partners, is a significant investor, contributing to the high quality and artistic standards of the performances.
